What's it Like...

To play on a recital?

Playing on a recital is fun!

Students take time to prepare their pieces in lessons and practice for recital performance. Students perform on recitals when they are ready, as determined by their private teacher.

Performance pieces for recitals are memorized, polished examples of your best playing. If your piece has a piano accompaniment, you will rehearse with an accompanist before you perform.

On the day of the recital, students dress up for their presentation, and  begin and end their performance with a bow to thank their audience for acknowledging their performance.

As performance etiquette, students must stay for the duration of the recital on which they perform as a courtesy to all performers.

Family members and friends of all ages may come to support their student in performance. However, we ask that noise be kept to a minimum by turning off all cell phones and taking out disruptive children so that they do not distract the performers or audience.
