Ivan Galamian

Armenian born Galamian also greatly influenced American violin pedagogy. Paul Rolland

Paul Rolland was born and trained in music in Hungary, but is known for being a founder of the American String Teacher Association and for developing techniques based on learning string playing with the whole body and natural muscle motion and kinesthesia in mind. Gerhard Mantel

Shinichi Suzuki

Shinichi Suzuki’s talent education philosophy made its way to the United States from Japan and inspires us with the ideas that every child has ability, that a student’s  ability can be fostered in a positive learning environment with support of teacher and family, and that a student thrives when taught the mechanics of playing the instrument (speaking) before reading music (reading/writing). Mimi Zweig

Mimi Zweig is a current highly influential pedagogue based in Bloomington, Indiana at Indiana University. Teri Einfeldt
